![]() I think the idea's great, full compatibility with every PC game, and I hope it works out! Seems like it has a lot of functionality with everything it can do, and I love how when using the middle touch-screen an overlay appears on the main screen, so you don't need to look down. Will wait and see how it feels but considering how much focus testing Valve does I doubt it's going to work out awful like some morons were going on about in comment sections, their brains completely incapable of processing change and acting as if they've actually used it. I'm sticking with what I do now for the foreseeable future, but again, if they're priced right, I just might add one to my living room!Īnd as for the Steam Controller, well, it's great to finally see some substantial innovation in what's been quite stagnant for awhile now, controls, with only Nintendo at least trying to do something. But I do know a lot of people where a reasonably priced gaming PC running Steam/SteamOS to simplify things would be brilliant, so I can definitely see where Valve are going with this, and the different combinations all running similar architecture at different levels would be great for compatibility. If they're reasonably priced then I might go for one, but I can basically make a Steam Machine. And it's free so, can't complain.Īs for Steam Machines, it's a neat idea but I'm not really the target audience. Considering how huge Steam is getting, I imagine we'll be seeing support for SteamOS if Valve/nVidia can nail it. Ubisoft tweeted 'Is the future Steampowered? #SteamOS' so it looks like it's already got the eye of the big guys. So if Valve can come along and do better, I'm all for it, and it's about time we got an OS designed specifically for gaming and gaming performance, something we've been asking/dreaming about for years! I think the concept is great, considering Microsoft's behind-the-scenes with Windows 8, how SteamOS is going to be open, but I'll be waiting to see support and compatibility before even considering throwing Windows away. Right now I'm fine with Windows, but that's the key word there fine. ![]() I'll go through my opinions on the announcements one-by-one then. ![]()
